Welcome to the Rotary Club of Oak Ridge Sunset and welcome to the new Rotary year 2011-2012.

This should be an exciting year for our club as we host the expanded 3rd annual Oak Ridge Science Fair and undertake a new project to support our fundraising goals. We will also continue our partnership with the other Oak Ridge Rotary clubs by participating in a District Simplified Grant project this year. We also hope to grow our membership this year by demonstrating the energy, enthusiasm and great ideas that our members put forth in our service projects.

Come back to this page often as it will be changing with pictures illustrating our club's service activities and projects.

The Oak Ridge Sunset Rotary Club had its Charter night September 22, 2008. About 75 guests and visitors attended. Eleven Rotary Clubs from across District 6780 were represented.

Distinquished Rotarian Bill Sergeant gave an informative and interesting history of Rotary Clubs in Oak Ridge.

Past District Governor Jim Devlin spoke of the importance of creating new Clubs and increasing membership so that Rotary can advance world peace and understanding.

Rotarian Bill Wilcox described projects the Oak Ridge clubs have done to improve conditions in the community and the world. District Governor Carol La Rue challenged the Sunset Club to get involved in international projects for Rotary.

There are more than 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are nonpolitical, nonreligious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. As signified by the motto Service Above Self, Rotary’s main objective is service — in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world.

Our club is one of the newest clubs in Rotary International, with a charter date of June 30, 2008. It is one of 66 Rotary clubs in District 6780, which covers the eastern half of Tennessee.

If you are an member of our club, we hope you'll find the information you are looking for here or in the members-only, password-protected area of the site (click "For Members ..." in the menu at left; if you need to have your password sent to you again, follow the directions on the screen).

If you are a visiting Rotarian, you'll find directions to our meeting space on the Meeting Information page. We meet on Monday evenings at 5:30 at The Flatwater Grill Event Center.

If you live or work in Oak Ridge or the surrounding area and are interested in Rotary, please contact us.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Cathy Warmbrod
